The Round Top Rifle Association was formed in 1873 by town members of German heritage. It began as a Schützen Verein, encouraging outdoor sports. Today it is a non-profit community service organization whose charter includes maintaining the historic 100+ year old Rifle Hall, sponsoring community events and providing a venue for weddings, reunions and family parties. The Hall sponsors the famous Round Top Fourth of July celebration, the longest running Fourth celebration west of the Mississippi. Other annual events include OktoBierFest, Schützenfest, and New Year’s Eve dance. On most Monday evenings the hall holds a community social, serving delicious hamburgers.
