Poetry at Round Top

Poetry at Round Top is an intimate and inspirational three days of poetry panels, workshops, and featured readings by some of the nation's most highly acclaimed poets, in the beautiful (and marvelously eccentric) setting of Festival Hill. This year we welcome as feature readers and workshop leaders Camille Dungy, Victoria Chang, Pamela Uschuk, Lauren Camp, Cyrus Cassells, David Meischen, and Mary Szybist. We will also showcase the work of the late Bert Meyers, who will be represented by his son Daniel Meyers and editor Kevin Prufer. Sasha West, Octavio Quintanilla, and Laura Van Prooyen will also offer workshops. Upon confirmed registration, each participant is invited to send a one-page poem (guidelines on the poetryatroundtop.org website!) for the P@RT '23 Anthology. Deadline for submissions is April 1, 2023. Poetry at Round Top 2023 will also introduce a Saturday morning 'After-Breakfast New Books Club!' The first ten registrants with a new poetry book (published since April 2020) may sign up to share their publication. (Authors will be responsible for their own books and sales for the After-Breakfast New Books Club showcase. Austin's BookWoman is the official bookstore of P@RT and will be onsite with books by the featured poets. Please respect their space.) You may submit your entry by emailing poetryatroundtop@gmail.com We know the optional workshops are a very popular feature of P@RT. Please note that you must be registered for the festival before you can register for any workshops. Because workshops are limited to fifteen participants each, we ask that registrants choose no more than three workshops, so everyone gets a chance at a favorite. We will open unfilled seats for registrants as the festival nears or onsite. Manuscript consultations are thirty minute one-on-one sessions held during the same time slots as optional workshops or open mics. If you register for a manuscript consultation, you will be asked to send a portfolio of up to ten pages of poetry to the coordinator ahead of the festival weekend. The portfolio will be passed on to the consultant, who will then have time to read and contemplate your poems. Participants have the opportunity to share meals, to wander the grounds and gardens, to bid on the quirkiest and most creative items in the Richard Royall Memorial silent auction, and to commune with other poets and poetry lovers throughout the weekend.
